No doubt, our country is large, and Alaska and Hawaii are poles apart, which makes it quite clear why we like to see different states so much. But just imagine, if the life within one country can be that different, what it can be like over the ocean?
So, let me introduce you, Her Majesty, Belgium. Why so-in-a-royal way? Belgium is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy with the king at the head. The country is situated in the northwest of Europe. Its capital is Brussels. If you think that it is just another small insignificant city, you are mistaken.
Actually, European Community’s headquarters is in Brussels. Belgians speak two official languages, French (its Belgian variant) and German. But you do not have to worry about the problems of misunderstanding in case you make up your mind to visit the Kingdom of Belgium. About 90% of Europeans understand and speak pretty decent English.

This is not even one thousandth of a great number of curious facts about small Belgium.
Belgium is 321 times smaller than the USA. But its population equals to the population of the 12 states of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Idaho, District of Columbia, North & South Dakota, Delaware, Alaska and Wyoming combined.
So, when you can visit as many as 12 states at a time, get to know a part of European culture and traditions, not to mention that landed in this country you get into a fairytale with Middle-Age castles, why think twice? Just book a place on a plane, pack your things, take your credit card and call a cab.
Have a nice trip! No, wait! The promised tips on using your plastic in Belgium. You will have no problems with using your credit card there. Belgium has the world’s biggest number of bank branches per person. It is a fully developed nation.
Credit cards are used far and wide in Belgium; payments for purchases you make with a credit card are removed from the bank account once a month. Both, MasterCard and Visa are available through banks, Diners Club American and Express cards are issued by the respective company. But the Belgian bank charges might be a bit higher than the US ones.
One of the merits of using your credit card is that your you can pay your bill during up to six weeks after a transaction, thus you get interest-free credit – except for the cases when you want to get some cash, then interest is accrued to your plastic right away.
So, now you are ready to go. Whenever you get a chance, visit Belgium, you will not be sorry, I promise. Been there, done that.
